Montreal, October 18, 2024 – In what was a particularly talent-rich 14th edition, the Hippocrates Awards honored 18 exceptional projects at its awards gala last night at the St. James Theatre. These initiatives promote integrated, multidisciplinary, and multisectoral approaches covering the entire healthcare continuum, with the goal of providing better care and services to Quebecers.

The awards ceremony, marked by growing attendance with 450 people in attendance, was held under the honorary chairmanship of Mr. Christian Dubé, Minister of Health, and Ms. Sonia Bélanger, Minister for Health and Minister Responsible for Seniors. Alongside the honorary co-chairs, Ms. Christine Lennon, CEO of Incyte Biosciences Canada, and Mr. Jacques Demers, President of the Fédération québécoise des municipalités, each embodies an essential and complementary pillar related to health, reflecting the Hippocrates Award’s commitment to broadening the vision of health and social services beyond its traditional network.

This year, 128 projects were submitted, 50 more than in 2023: a record that attests to the vitality of the health sector and its drive to innovate. Over the years, the wide range of projects recognized by the Hippocrates Award reflects the diversity of skills and the boundless creativity of stakeholders across the broader health sector. Indeed, the Hippocrates Award stands out for its ability to bring together actors from across the health ecosystem, highlighting diverse areas of expertise and building a network of interdisciplinary and multisectoral innovations.

Two grand prizes were awarded

Two grand prizes were awarded during the evening, selected from the winners of the two categories: Emerging and Transformative. The Emerging Grand Prize was awarded to the Cœur Way project, from the organization of the same name. The Transformative Grand Prize was awarded to the project titled: Implementation of a Virtual On-Demand Interpretation Platform—Voyce, from the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest de l’Île de Montréal.

“I am immensely proud of the progress made by the Hippocrates Award, with more than 128 projects submitted this year. These initiatives, which are increasingly co-developed and scalable, touch every stage of the care and service continuum, from primary to specialized care. They come from organizations with diverse missions related to health and social services, and cover almost all of Quebec. I am delighted to see that the province has strong networks, supported by various pillars that work in harmony and value collaboration.” – Francine Champoux, President of the Hippocrates Award.
