The Hippocrate Award announced the winners of its 2025 edition last Thursday during its annual gala at the St. James Theatre. Chaired by Ms. Francine Champoux and bringing together more than 490 leaders from the healthcare ecosystem, the event was supported by Mr. Matheus Vieira, President and CEO of Roche Diagnostics and Honorary Chair, and Ms. Isabelle Charest, Minister of Sport, Recreation, and the Outdoors, Honorary Chair.
Mr. Christian Dubé, Minister of Health and honorary patron of the event, expressed his support through an official message. We were also pleased to have the support of the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy, represented by Ms. Céline Haytayan, Parliamentary Assistant, who joined the three-ministerial delegation representing Health, Education, and Economy.
The 2025 Grand Prizes: Excellence Recognized
A highlight of the evening, two major awards were presented:
The Emerging Grand Prize was awarded to the project “Development of a multimodal pre-rehabilitation program, co-created with seniors, for patients awaiting elective total hip replacement.” This project, resulting from a collaboration between the University of Sherbrooke, the Centre for Research on Aging, the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Sercovie community center, exemplifies the potential of interdisciplinary co-creation to improve the quality of life for seniors.
The Transformative Grand Prize was awarded to the project “Follow-up Clinic for Orphan Patients,” led by Les pharmacies Kevin Girard. This innovative initiative in work organization has freed up more clinical time for pharmacists, directly benefiting the public. It stands out for its potential to be replicated for other health issues and within various pharmacies across Quebec.
17 additional awards highlighting the diversity of innovation and the importance of prevention
In addition to the grand prizes, 17 emerging or transformative initiatives were recognized in 9 award categories for their contributions to a variety of issues, including technological and digital innovation, artificial intelligence, translational research, sustainable health, and the promotion of the next generation.
This edition follows in the footsteps of the National Prevention Strategy and the Plan to Implement Necessary Changes in Health. In line with these priorities, the Hippocrate Award highlights projects that represent the diverse facets and key roles of prevention, particularly through the Innovation – Prevention – Intersectorality – Sustainable Health Award. It also recognizes the work of diverse intersectoral teams that have implemented value-creating solutions and transformed practices.
